Megatrends such as demographic change, globalisation, climate change and digitalisation are changing the way we live and work, and thus the way we use real estate. Institutional investors need to identify real estate that is compatible with change to maintain a robust portfolio over the long term.

Swiss Life Asset Managers pursues a thematic investment approach with five overarching themes designed to ensure our clients' real estate portfolios stay relevant and as resilient as possible. The main focus is on cities – two-thirds of all people will be living in cities by 2050.

Swiss Life Asset Managers’ European Thematic Cities Index (TCI) compares European cities across five central themes. It identifies the most robust factors in the face of ongoing structural change as well as their strengths and weaknesses.

Using the example of Paris, the new "Insights" illustrates the opportunities presented by the office property market if investors read the green signs of the times correctly. The impact of blockchain on the real estate sector and which investment opportunities arise in more traditional sectors, such as retail or logistics, are also covered in the new edition.
